The interaction between the population, industry, society and the seas are more intense, more varied, and create more value for Europe than ever before. The challenges faced are both in relation to the sustainable use and the exploitation of the oceans and seas. The importances of these challenges are already reflected in various European policies, but they are based on a sector by sector approach.
